Wisdom for a song in a temple town

Nakul Vāc

tirupuvanam

For just five and a quarter rupees :

Rituals at six canonical hours of the day,

Circumambulation in the crowd free corridors
shrouded by the noise free darkness,

An overflowing Vaikai
spurning its sandy confines,

A beauteous Lord
contrary to his true form
sheathed in Gold
Whom
only the courtesan Ponnanaiyaal
got to pinch amorously

All of this and

the wisdom
espousing
the futility of
all relations

In

The holy town of Thirupuvanam.
